The project involved
the construction of a new district office and maintenance facility for the Childress
District of the Texas Department of Transportation. The facility included standard office
space, laboratory testing areas, and a vehicle maintenance shop. There were a total of
seven different buildings on the new site to accommodate all of the required services.The mechanical systems
for the project utilized standard split system heating and cooling units. Radiant tube
heating was installed in the large vehicle maintenance bays. Special plumbing systems were
installed to accommodate the lab spaces as well as the vehicle maintenance areas.
Electrical systems
for the project included lighting, power, communications, and fire alarm systems. Each
building on the site was provided with emergency power from two on-site emergency
generators. Each building was supplied with a separate electrical transformer provided by
the power company. Critical communications pathways were installed between all buildings
to allow for communications systems to be integrated.
