The project involved
the construction of a completely new stand-alone 288-bed jail facility and a new
40,000-square-foot sheriffs office. The facility utilized the direct supervision pod
concept now widely used throughout jail facilities.The mechanical systems for the project involved standard packaged
heating and cooling units as well as smoke purge control systems. Smoke purge control was
used throughout the inmate areas to meet and exceed the state requirements for removal of
smoke during an emergency. Heavy-duty detention type plumbing fixtures were provided
throughout the facility.
Electrical systems
for the building included standard lighting, power distribution, emergency power
distribution, fire alarm, and computer-controlled video visitation systems. A single
1200KW generator set and multiple automatic transfer switches provided emergency power.
