In 1993, Greathouse Elementary was completed in conjunction with a
multi-million dollar bond package set forth by Midland ISD.HVAC systems included a variable
air volume system with parallel flow fan powered boxes. Cooling was provided from two
70-ton air-cooled chillers. Heating was provided from a high efficiency modular boiler to
satisfy a total 2,238,000 Btuh heating load. Piping to all six air units utilized a
four-pipe system. Control for all systems utilized a school standard direct digital
control system.
Electrical systems included a new 480V, 2000A service and
switchboard to provide lighting, power, and HVAC power requirements to the facility. Agnew Associates special systems
in the design such as a fire alarm system with digital voice evacuation and an extensive
classroom communications system with clock and bell controls. The facility also utilized
LED exit signs and battery-supplied emergency lighting.
