Cavazos Junior High
School was designed to accommodate approximately 600 students. The facility included 24
classrooms, a 600-seat auditorium, three gymnasiums, a library, a distance learning
classroom, a complete woodshop, and two computer rooms.HVAC systems included 77 roof-mounted HVAC units for heating and
cooling. Each unit used direct expansion compressors for cooling and utility-supplied gas
for heating. All units were controlled through a school-standard direct digital control
system, which can provide remote control access to the HVAC system.
Electrical systems
included lighting and power systems, communication systems, a computer network system, and
a complete video distribution system.
The lighting system was designed to generate 50 horizontal foot
candles at 2.5 feet workplane height, with special emphasis on video display terminal
lighting. In addition, the lighting design included production lighting for the auditorium
stage.
The power design included splitting the facility into five
separate areas. Each area had one main electrical room to serve loads in the corresponding
area.
The communication
systems included a complete public address system, a clock and bell system, and a separate
public address system for the auditorium, gymnasiums, and cafeteria.

provided the following services: HVAC, electrical and plumbing design, construction documents, and construction administration. |
