 DOING THE "RIGHT THING" FOR OUR CLIENTS A message from Dwayne R. Agnew, P.E. President and CEO of Agnew Associates. Agnew Associates is about doing the "right thing" without concern for the consequences. Our values are the foundation of our company. It is universally agreed that a perfect set of plans and specifications has never been produced. Although we are good engineers, we do make mistakes. I was recently confronted by one of our clients. In his hand, he was holding a change order indicating the cost to relocate a gas line that we had incorrectly shown on our drawings. He asked, "What am I going to tell my boss?" I said, "Tell him the truth. Tell him the engineers made a mistake and they are willing to make it right."Some might say, from a business standpoint, it is irresponsible to admit a mistake. The legal or monetary consequences could be devastating. We say that is the only way to do business! With this, the door is opened for fair and equitable solutions. We believe that for the company to achieve success and prosper, our value system must underlie all of our policies and actions. Our systems may change with time to meet the challenges of a changing world, but we must remain steadfast in our values.We respond with integrity and honor in all situations. Our responses give us reason to be proud. That is the "right thing." |
